Get to know Cove

My husband Howard and I moved to Newton in 2012 with our then 3 year old son Elliot and 6 month old Calvin. They are a little bigger now! We chose Newton for the great schools and the diverse community. Our students went on to attend Memorial Spaulding and we felt welcomed into that community.

I knew early on that I was passionate about schools and teaching children. My first job out of college was as a teacher in an international school in Amman, Jordan, and I loved being a part of a diverse community and getting to know people from all parts of the world. I went on to earn a Masters degree in School Counseling and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. I have had roles in schools including teacher, counselor, Dean of Students, Vice Principal to eventually Principal of a middle school in Chelsea, MA. I believe in the promise of education and the opportunities that it opens for all students.

I have spent the last 8 years as the Executive Administrator of the Five District Partnership. This is a unique partnership that focuses on creating shared curriculum, assessments, and professional development from teachers. My colleauges and I have built the organization from the ground up, and I collaborate with many others across the districts to find best practices.

I have been active in our Newton community since we arrived. I have served on the Memorial Spaulding PTO in a variety of roles from being on the executive committee to the less glamorous job of organizing the lost and found. I have coached my sons on Newton Youth Soccer and served on the board of the Oak Hill Park Association.

I believe that I have the values, skills, experience, determination and judgement to serve effectively on the School Committee and I am anxious to help move our school system forward.
